  • “The People Who Make Books”   (Elementary or Middle School)

    Age-appropriate presentation about the publishing industry and/or the writing process. Includes read-aloud (ENOUGH IS... or I THINK I THINK A LOT) and Q&A.

    Assembly or classroom. 45-50 min.

    Wants, Needs, and Enough” (Elementary)

    Includes read-aloud and interactive discussion of ENOUGH IS... and Q&A. An excellent supplement to wants/needs curriculum. Assembly or classroom. 45-50 min.

    “Picture Books Are Maps: Writing Strong Stories”  (Elementary or Middle School)

    Teaches students how authors lead their readers through books using Traditional Narrative Structure working like a map. Helpful for students who are writing their own stories or learning the writing process. Includes a collaborative activity. Classroom recommended. 45-50 min.

    “The Poetry of Picture Books” (High School or College) 

    Discusses the picture book form and its similarities to poetry. Includes icebreaker, examples, Q&A. Works for creative writing or English classes, a small group of strong student writers, or literary magazine staff. Includes Q&A. 35-45 min.

    “Picturebooking as a Career” (High School or College)

    Explores these topics: writing, querying, submissions, and traditional publication from Jessica’s kidlit experience. Suitable as a career talk or a dip into the “how” of publishing picture books. Includes Q&A. 35-45 min.

    Custom Presentation Option - Do you want Jessica to speak on something not listed here? Work with her to develop a talk on a custom topic.

  • $350/presentation

     If two presentations in same day, take $50 off each. If three or more, take $100 off each.

    If greater than 25 miles away from Jessica’s home in Lancaster, PA, please add mileage ($.65/mile) and tolls reimbursement, with further reimbursements for greater distances (such as airfare) if applicable.

  • All presentations can include book sales. If elected, Jessica will work with the school and its closest independent bookstore to facilitate ordering signed books via a paper order form she will create. No extra charge.

     

  • All of the presentation options above are available via video conference if price or distance is an issue.

    Price: $175/presentation

  • Host Jessica to read either book and host Q&A at your library for cost of mileage/tolls plus a Pay-What-You-Wish honorarium.

    If You choose I THINK I THINK A LOT, you can also elect to have Jessica lead a craft.
